Another patera carrying migrants has been intercepted and escorted to the Commercial pier in Arrecife.
The vessel carried 55 people, among whom were six women and two children.
It is unlikely to be the last arrival. The calm weather of September has usually meant an increase in attempted crossings from the African mainland. Last year, 22% of all arrivals on the Canaries occurred in this month.
