A yellow alert for rough seas has been issued by AEMET, Spain’s weather agency, and will commence tonight (Thursday 5th February) and last until midnight on Friday 6th.

It’s the latest of several recent alerts resulting from heavy Atlantic swells, with northern and western coasts likely to be the most seriously affected, with waves of up to 5 metres predicted.

A Canarian Government pre-alert for rough seas also remains in place. Citizens are advised to avoid any activities that expose them to risk in exposed areas of the coast, such as visiting rocky shores, fishing or walking on piers and jetties.
