Ana Maria Emmel, one of Lanzarote’s longest-serving tourist guides – a widely-respected professional and a well-loved colleague, died on Monday at the age of 67.

The Professional Association of Guides and Interpreters, APIT, said Ana Mariá was “a great professional, a wonderful colleague and an even better person”.

“She leaves a big void, but she wouldn’t want that. She would always want us to remember her with a big smile and her love of life ”. Although Ana María was of German origin, APIT President Natacha Lopéz said “She was completely integrated into Lanzarote society, just one more conejera.

The Aloe Plus Lanzarote Company also said “Ana María carried the flag for Lanzarote and showed every corner of it to thousands upon thousands of people who were interested in knowing about it.”
