The Association of Owners of Puerto Calero has denounced the Canarian Government for authorising a “legal scam” that they say will benefit the marina’s concessionaire, Puerto Calero Marinas SL.

They claim that an amendment to the General Budgets of the Canaries, made without consultation with the owner’s association, will establish that any transfer of rights will expire at the end of the originally agreed term, unless expressly agreed with the concessionaire.

The association claims that over 50 businesses, 300 jobs and 27 homes are threatened by the amendment, and fears that Puerto Calero Marinas SL intends to resell homes, moorings and commercial premises that have already been paid for and whose owners have invested their lives in improving the marina.

“This is a law specially tailored by the Canarian Government to favour private interests such as Puerto Calero Marinas and other private marinas,” claims the association.
