Seven Puerto Calero restaurants participated in the 1st Sustainable Cooking Contest as part of the Eco Action Week activities program, using products from Lanzarote.

“I congratulate Puerto Calero and the participating restaurant profressionals for the first edition of this delicious competition, I am convinced that many more editions will come”, said the Mayor of Yaiza Óscar Noda.

The judges panel was made of up the Óscar Noda, Rubén Arca, Sergio Cabrera and the winners of the “Judge for a Day” contest, Ianire Vidorpeta and Begoña Frahija. They listened intently to each chefs rundown of their dishes before making a difficult decision on which dish was the best.

The score was extremely tight, but in the end the restaurant La Taberna del Puerto won with their chef David Hidaldo’s dish “Rice with the flavour of La Santa”.

The Eco Action Week activities continue until this Saturday, with workshops, underwater photography and more. Find out more here: www.puertocalero.com.
