Motorists are warned that road closures and diversions will be in operation at Playa Honda and the approach to Arrecife for at least a month.

The Canarian Government has decided to push ahead with work on the new underpass at Playa Honda, which will begin today. The Cabildo’s request to postpone the works until more information has been given has not been heeded.

According to the General Directorate of Traffic Road Infrastructure “The south carriageway (sea side) of the LZ-2 will be closed to traffic for approximately 300 metres, with one lane in each direction of traffic being enabled on the opposite carriageway. To transfer traffic from one road to the other, two median crossings will be enabled.” Motorists will also be encouraged to use both roundabouts of the Playa Honda interchange.

Travellers are advised to expect possible delays and plan their journeys accordingly.
