A dispute between Yaiza Ayuntamiento and the company responsible for Playa Blanca’s new sports centre has arisen after it was discovered that modifications would need to be done to the original project.
The company are asking for a further €2 million to finish the extra work, while Yaiza insists it can only provide €600,000.
The works that require completion relate to the air conditioning system inside the building and several aspects on its exterior, including a football pitch, various sports courts and a children’s playground.
If no agreement is reached, Yaiza is considering issuing a new tender for the remaining works. “What is important is that the works are finished properly,” said Mayor Óscar Noda, who is confident that the pavilion will be completed by the end of the year “come what may.”
