Teguise Ayuntamiento has announced that the newly-built civic centre in the village of Las Caletas will open shortly.
Mayor Oswaldo Betancort recently visited the centre in the small seaside village next to Costa Teguise with colleagues Olivia Duque and Eugenio Robayna.
Betancort said “We’re very satisfied with the outcome of this new social and cultural centre, which will join the wide network of teleclubs in our municipality, and and we expect that everyone from youngest to the oldest will soon be enjoying it.” (”Teleclub” is a Spanish word for rural social centres, which in the past were often the only places where local people could watch TV.)
The civic centre has a children’s play area, a sports court and a bowls pitch. Work on the project cost €280,000.
