Construction of a new 97-room five-star hotel will commence this month in Playa Blanca.

The project was announced yesterday by the Canarian Hospitality group, who already manage the MYND hotel in Playa Blanca and the Radisson Blue Lanzarote in Costa Teguise.

The luxury hotel will feature “swim-up” suites, with all rooms having access to a swimming pool. It will be located near the Marina Rubicón.

Construction is predicted to last around two years, with the hotel due to open in 2028.

Protestors have taken to the streets of Lanzarote three times in the last two years, calling for a moratorium on new hotels and criticising the shortcomings of the island’s water system, among other demands. However, it appears their concerns have been completely ignored.
