The Canarian president , Victor Ángel Torres, has announced that he will take legal action against a “fixer” who claims that he was aware of bribery and fraud among Socialist politicians in the Canarian Government’s agriculture department
The Caso Mediador (Middleman Case) involves allegations that the director of the Agriculture Department of the Canarian Government at the time, Taishet Fuentes; his uncle and socialist member of the Canarian congress, Bernardo Fuentes; and retired Guardía Civil general Javier Espinosa Navas, tampered with official complaints and inspections in exchange for bribes.
Marco Antonio Navarro Tacoronte, a businessman with a long criminal record, is the “fixer” who claims to have arranged several meetings at which the criminal activity took place.
President Torres, aware of how damaging a corruption scandal could be three months before the regional elections in May, has vehemently denied that he knew anything about the plot, and instructed his legal team to take action against Navarro Tacoronte.
