Jessica responded to our appeal for rescue animal stories with the following letter:
“Her name is Luna, and on the 22nd of October 2019 I was getting off the bus late evening with my boyfriend and the little dog came over to me wagging her tail. I stroked her and then walked to the shop thinking her owner was somewhere near, but she followed me in the shop. I was thinking surely her owner is someone in the shop but as I left and started walking home she came racing up behind me. I thought this was strange but kept on walking and she kept right at my side.
As I got closer to my house she was still there, without a collar. I couldn’t leave her outside on her own. I phoned my mum and asked her what I should do as I already had three dogs and I didn’t know how she would react to the other three. Mum said I had to bring her in the house as it was already 11 o’clock at night and she would have to stay in my room with me.
I posted about her all over Facebook but I got no response regarding her owner.
She was such a good girl and just slept on the floor.
The next morning I took her to the vet to see if she had been micro-chipped, she did, I contacted the owner and was told that I could have her. And she started to tell me that she is always out in the streets on her own and that is how she spends her life, baring in mind I stopped her from going in the road the night I found her or she would have been hit by a car.
This was not fair on Luna so I told the owner this, and she asked me to meet her. I went and saw this lady and she told me that she did not want her and that I should keep her because she could not handle her. I have given Luna a loving forever home and could not love her any more. She is such a loving, caring and special dog. We are both so lucky to have found each other.”
