Eleven of the island’s local wineries are showcasing their quality wines in the third edition of the prestigious Barcelona Wine Week fair.
The Barcelona Wine Week is a celebration of wines from around the world. This year the wine week has brought over 700 wineries together in one space with over 20,000 professionals in the wine sector to try and discuss the wines.
Local wineries attending the event include Bodegas El Grifo, Bodegas Los Bermejos, Bodega Vulcano de Lanzarote, and Bodega La Geria.
Participation in the Barcelona Wine Week is part of the Canarian Government’s Regional Ministry’s strategy to boost and promote the wines from the Canaries.
The Canarian Government’s Regional Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Alicia Vanoostende, along with the Director of the ICCA, Basilio Pérez, valued “the importance of publicising the potential of Canary Islands wines, due to their quality, uniqueness, and variety, that differentiates us.”
They indicated that the regional government “goes hand in hand with the wineries to promote their products, support them and enable their presence in showcases as important and the Barcelona Wine Week, because the wine sector is strategic for the economy of the islands.”
