Lanzarote has attracted the attention of one of the most-popular newspapers in the world.
The New York Times wrote an article last week about the resilience of the Canary Islands and tourists despite the sharp rise in Omicron cases.
The Canaries remained an easy location to visit during a time when major countries were applying new travel restrictions and Covid measurements to stop the spread of the Omicron variant.
Despite the country introducing its own rules, the message to tourists always remained the same: Please come.
The New York Times article highlights the key differences in restrictions between Spain and its neighbouring countries, as well as Spain’s eagerness to allow what tourism it can and to return to pre-Covid tourism levels.
Featuring pictures of Lanzarote and the Canaries, the article is a refreshing and hopeful read which includes interviews with tourists and local business owners.
