Prepare for a very hot weekend, as Spain’s weather agency AEMET has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures on Saturday.
The warning will be in place from 11 am to 8 pm, when maximum temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius are forecast, with minimum temperatures barely falling below 25-27 even at night. Inland areas of the island will be the worst-affected.
Sunday is currently predicted to be even hotter, but as warnings are issued within the next three days, no warning has yet been issued. However, the maximum temperatures of 42 degrees currently predicted would trigger an orange or even a red alert.
Stiff northerly alisio winds are forecast for today and tomorrow, but wind speeds will fall at the weekend and a light, high level calima is forecast.
