More heat is forecast for the weekend, but the weather is predicted to change early next week as the wind changes to a southerly, bringing rainfall.
The extended heatwave is predicted to continue throughout the weekend, with daytime highs of 34 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures of 24 degrees. Yellow heat alerts remain in place for Friday and Saturday.
However, weather will change on Monday, and a 95% chance of rain showers is predicted for Tuesday, when the wind will swing round to the south. Nevertheless, temperatures will remain around the 30-degree mark, meaning sauna-like conditions.
