The Canarian Health Service has issued a yellow heat alert for the days between 30th September to 4th October (Saturday to Thursday), with average daily temperatures predicted to rise to the low 30s Celsius.
The warning is accompanied by a yellow alert for calima conditions (dust in the air) from Spanish weather agency AEMET, which will be in operation from 3am tomorrow (Saturday) until further notice.
A yellow alert is the lowest level, advising citizens to be aware of conditions and stay informed. The usual recommendations to stay hydrated, remain in cool shady places and look after vulnerbale people (babies, the elderly, pregnant women and those with respiratory problems) apply.
