Over 1000 firearms including shotguns, rifles, carbines, pistols, and revolvers have been destroyed by the Guardia Civil as part of the Canaries “Firearms Control Plan” (PICAF).

This month the Guardia Civil took over 1000 weapons to a steel company to be scrapped. The weapons had been deposited by owners who requested their destruction, weapons that were declared for destruction by courts, as well as those prohibited due to lack of markings, serial codes or other reasons.

The destruction the firearms comes as part of the Canary Islands’ “Firearms Control Plan” (PICAF) which aims to prevent illegal trafficking of firearms, the use of compressed air or gas firearms as well as handmade devices capable of firing ammunition.
