Several concrete plant holders that have been nicknamed magdalenas (cupcakes) by Arrecife residents have been explained by Arrecife Mayor Astrid Perez.
The structures, that resemble the paper cases for cupcakes, have been installed on several roundabouts and pavements in the capital, causing complaints from some residents who have complained that they pose a danger to any cars that accidentally leave the road. Others, however, have praised the cupcakes
However, Perez yesterday explained that the cupcakes were meant to represent the cones of volcanoes, and had been installed upside down by accident. It is not known how the error will be rectified, as flipping the cupcakes over risks damaging them.
