Arrecife’s belén (nativity scene) will move its location this year to the capital’s main shopping street.
The large, detailed nativity scene has usually been mounted in a marquee on the seafront, but this year it is being set up on the ground floor of the El Mercadillo Shopping Centre on C/León y Castillo.
El Mercadillo is located in a large listed building that was once home to one of the most important families on the island. Ther shopping centre was closed down a couple of years ago and has been acquired by the council.
The belén is expected to open to the public on December 5th, while the Navilan Christmas fair near the Charco de San Ginés is scheduled to open on the 11th.
