The building that sits just a minutes’ walk from our office in Tías, close to the Puente Los Lirios bus stop is finally undergoing a much-needed renovation.
This week, Tías Ayuntamiento have begun the start of what looks to be a lengthy renovation of the SP6T municipal building with a budget of €320,312.64 funded by the Lanzarote Cabildo.
The building which hasn’t been used in years, and has remained empty during that time, is undergoing renovations to be used for wakes. You may have already seen construction taking place in the empty plot to the left of the building.
According to the project plans the building will be used for wakes, with candle rooms and the necessary services for its operation. In addition to this, the empty plot will be turned into a patio garden from which the building can be accessed with ramps and stairs.
