A new amendment to the Covid restrictions on the Canary Islands means that bars and restaurants who serve customers indoors must keep a register of their details.
This applies to all islands on Levels 1 & 2, and thus currently applies to Lanzarote. Levels 3 & 4 are excluded because indoor service is forbidden at those levels.
The measure, which has already been introduced in several other areas of Spain, as well as the UK, is intended to aid the track and trace services, permitting them to locate all possible contacts in the case of an outbreak of Covid.
It is the establishment’s responsibility to keep the register, which should include the customer’s name, their DNI/NIE number, telephone number and the date and time when they arrived and left. The establishment must keep these records and make them available to the health authorities, if required, for a month after service.
Existing register sheets also identify the location of the table that the customers occupied.
