ASCAV, the Canarian Association of Holiday Rental Owners, has warned that “a purge” on rental owners has begun.
The association has issued a press release that strongly challenges the Canarian Tourist Board’s claim that it will “maintain the status quo for small owners of holiday rentals.” It claims that the law will prohibit small owners from allowing property management companies to handle their establishments.
It also says that new requirements for existing owners will constitute a “new licence” and claims that “apartments, bungalows and similar properties” will be automatically excluded from holiday rentals.
The association claims that over 20,000 holiday rentals have been registered since the law was announced in October last year and claims that the Canarian Government is using this as a reason to crack down on holiday lets, when it caused the situation in the first place.
ASCAV calls on rental owners to study the law for themselves and confirm that “The Canarian Government is, once again, going to leave tourism in the hands of the same people as always.”
