Arrecife’s Mayor, Yonathan de León, received the Indian Ambassador of Spain, Dinesh K. Patnaik, this week who attended a meeting of the Hindu community living in Lanzarote.
Patnaik’s visit coincides with the celebration of Holi, an Indian festival of colours that celebrates the love of the gods Rhada and Krishna, with brightly coloured powders, dancing, and food.
The ambassador signed the Book of Honour of the City in a year in which it celebrates the 225th anniversary of its founding.
Patnaik explained to the mayor the important investments that Indian companies are making in Spain in sectors related to innovation, new technologies, among others.
The island has approximately 2,000 Indian residents who “show a great capacity as entrepreneurs and their full integration into society in Lanzarote”, de León wrote on Facebook.
