The Mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Perez, has criticised the Spanish Prime Minister for “neglect to address the humanitarian issue being experienced on the coasts of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands.”.

The Arrecife Ayuntamiento has criticised Pedro Sánchez, claiming that he “continues to placidly enjoy his stay in Lanzarote while the island is experiencing the arrival of ten pateras with about 400 immigrants, of which includes a missing girl and a minor in critical condition.”.

The Mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Perez, condemns “the neglect of the government, and regional government, to address the humanitarian issue being experienced on the coasts of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands” and highlights “the lack of tools the island has to address the issue.”.

The first deputy to the Mayor of Arrecife, David Toledo, describes the situation as “disastrous, the agreement between the government and Morocco is an absolute failure”, and calls for a solution in order to properly carry out the administration required to process the arrival of immigrants.
