The Canarian Government will send a citizens’ alarm test message to all mobile phones on the island between the hours of 10am and midday next Wednesday, the 29th of May.
The ES-Alert is a means of warning citizens of emergency situations, and the alarm will be transmitted to all 4G and 5G phones that receive data on the island.
The alert consists of a high-pitched bleep and a flashing message saying PRUEBA (test). If your phone is configured to another language, it will appear in English Once accepted, the message will disappear.
Authorities advise those who are driving not to be alarmed, and instead pull over to a safe place at the first opportunity to accept the alarm. They also advise warning older people who may be alarmed by the message.
