In 2016, two Dutch tourists were killed in an accident at a pedestrian crossing in Costa Teguise. The driver has been sentenced to 39 months in prison this week.
The accident took place in February of 2016, on the Avenida de Las Palmeras in Costa Teguise. Two Dutch tourists in their late 60s where hit by the vehicle while using a pedestrian crossing.
According to reports at the time, the 27-year-old driver tested positive during a breathaliser test conducted after the accident and, according to emergency services, the vehicle “was moving at great speed.”.
In an Arrecife court this week, she has been sentenced to 39 months in prison, her licence suspended for 5 years, and she must pay approximately 160,000 euros in compensation to the family.
