Yesterday morning, the strain of the LZ-10 road was too much for a car, whose engine burst into flames on the upper stretch of the ascent at around 8 am in the morning.
The LZ-10 road from Arrieta to Haría is one of the toughest uphill stretches on the island, rising 270 metres in just over 3 kilometres through ancient mountains still marked by signs of the terrace farming of bygone days.
Emergency services arrived to discover that the owner had already extinguished the flames. They secured the area and cooled the engine.
