Arrecife council has unanimously approved the establishment of a beach where dogs can be exercised, as well as the renovation of the dog park located near the skate park at the western end of Playa Reducto.

The location of the beach has not been confirmed yet, but it will only be the third on the island, adding to the two existing beaches at Playa Guacimeta in Playa Honda and Playa Colorados in Playa Blanca.

Counsellor Carlos Alférez, who proposed the motion, said that “these areas can become places where families can enjoy the beach with their pets,” and pointed out that Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with 300,000 inhabitants, has 25 dog parks while Arrecife, with 64,000, has just one “in very poor condition.”
