“We have left the pandemic behind us, and we are firmly on the road to recovery, I think we have every reason to celebrate the 30th with enthusiasm and joy”.

In a presentation at the Monumento al Campesino this morning, Cabildo President María Dolores Corujo expressed her excitement for the upcoming Dia de Canarias celebrations, as well as looking toward the future without Covid at the front of it all.

The presentation allowed the Cabildo to show their Dia de Canarias events program, organised by the Department of Culture, sponsored by the Canarian government, and in collaboration with the CACT.

Corujo announced that the programme will include arts, crafts, sculpture, musical performances along with plenty of excitement and fun of course. “We intend to celebrate more than ever this year with the unity of Canarian people”, she added.

Corujo ended stressing “we have left the health crisis behind us, and we are firmly on the road to recovery in tourism, economic activity and employment, so I think we have every reason to celebrate the festivities with joy.”.

Programme Details

Friday 27th May – Jameos del Agua – “Cantador Sinfonico” The event will feature artists Ciro Corujo, Manuel Estupiñán and Pedro Manuel Afonso as they perform their show “Cantador Sinfónico”, a project born from the work of more than twenty musicians.

Sunday 29th May – Casa-Museo del Campesino – El Pavón, the Parranda Pa’l Porrón, the Parranda Marinera Los Buches and the Agrupación de Música Popular Teguey groups Will perform.

On the same day the restaurants in Casa-Museo del Campesino and the Castillo de San Jose will hold special menus using Canarian products.

Monday 30th May – Mancha Blanca – The square outside the church of Mancha Blanca will host one of the biggest Canary Day events on the island. The marquee used for the craft fair will be erected and there’ll be exhibitions and demonstrations of crafts, vintage cars, native sports and much, much more.

There’ll be performances by at least six Canarian folk groups, children’s activities and tapas stalls featuring tasty treats made from local produce at reasonable prices.

There’ll also be a collection of food and hygiene products for local Social Services, who will happily accept donations of milk, water, juice, sugar, coffee, cereals and gofio, flour, tinned foods, toilet roll, washing powder etc.

The event opens at 11am and will continue until 10pm.

Tickets for these events will be free of charge, with prior online withdrawal through the website of Culture of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
