The square in Yaiza was in full swing last week, with long-standing traditions, markets and concerts at the official unveiling of the annual Belén.

Yaiza’s long-standing tradition, which couldn’t be celebrated last year due to Covid, took place on December 3rd with the opening of the Belén.
The night started with a Christmas caroling session that could be heard throughout the villas, which then lead the way for Daniel Medina’s speech before the Belén was blessed by the new parish preist of Yaiza, Jonathan Almeida Romero.
Then the lights-on event began, Media flipped the power switch and the square lit up along with the Belén itself and tree.
There were concerts aplenty to follow, with performances from local artists and a concert by local school children.
Daneil Medina went on to say, “this is not only a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, it is also a tribute to the ingenuity and historical work of locals from the island who have helped shape the spectacular landscape of the island”.
The Yaiza Ayuntamiento invite all to visit the Belén, as well as to take part in the festive activity program that the Ayuntamiento have organised.
