A Yorkshire terrier was attacked and killed by a larger dog at the Papagayo campsite on Saturday.
The incident occurred when the owners of the Yorkie were dining with their dog tied to a chair. According to them, a larger dog approached and immediately attacked the Yorkie.
The couple could not separate the dogs and when the owner of the larger dog finally appeared and managed to separate them, the Yorkie was dying.
The little dog was rushed to a vet in Playa Honda who could only certify its death.
Yaiza Ayuntamiento has stated that this was an “isolated incident” and that the larger dog was not of potentially dangerous breed. Police are investigating the incident and the whereabouts of the larger dog is unconfirmed.
