Following news last month that the Papagayo International Hotel was to be demolished, Yaiza Ayuntamiento has stated that this is not the case, and it will instead seek to undertake the demolition of the part of the hotel that was constructed in contravention of the law.

The road that crosses the plot to the sea will be left free and clear. “It is not about demolishing the hotel in its entirety,” the Ayuntamiento has clarified.
“In fact, there is no sentence that orders this; it is about demolishing the part of the building that occupies said road, a detail that is not trivial, because, from reading some published headlines, it seems that the judge ordered the complete demolition of the hotel, and worse still, that the Ayuntamiento has contravened judicial decisions.”
