The Euro 2024 tournament isn’t the only important football that’s going on today, as Unión Sur Yaiza take on Club Portugalete in the first leg of their play-off final. The winners of the two-leg match will be promoted to Spain’s second division RFEF.
It’s undoubtedly the most important match in Yaiza’s 40-year history, and the first time that Yaiza have ever taken on opposition from mainland Spain. Their trip to the Basque country next weekend should be quite an event. But first they’ll be hoping to mark their advantage at home today.
The match kicks off at 11.30 at the Estadio Municipal in Yaiza. Doors open at 10.15 am and entry is €10, unless you’re a season ticket holder or under 16 years of age, in which case it’s free.
