A woman was evacuated from the Volcán del Cuervo yesterday after suffering a fall.
Emergency services received a call at 2pm, and firemen and an ambulance attended the scene. Firemen carried the woman back to the road on a stretcher and the ambulance took her to the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for treatment.
The distinctive volcano, with its shark-fin profile, was the first to appear in the series of eruptions that formed Timanfaya from 1730 to 1736. It has become an increasingly popular attraction since a footpath was renovated and car parking provided a few years ago. However, the short journey to the volcano still involves a walk over rough volcanic terrain.
