The Guardia Civil have arrested an employee of one of Lanzarote’s bodegas for allegedly stealing over 6,000 euros from bottle sales and tours.
Last month, a 32-year-old employee at one of Lanzarote’s bodegas was arrested by the Guardia Civil for allegedly stealing over 6,000 euros from the bodega. The arrest was made after another employee reported their suspicions to the police.
The unnamed bodega became aware of the 32-year-old’s actions after receiving calls from customers about wine purchases not turning up. In addition to this, excursion companies complained to the bodega about not receiving payments.
According to reports, the employee would provide his personal bank account details to clients rather than the company account and pocketed any cash payments.
