César Manrique’s wind toys at the airport and the Tahiche roundabout are not likely to be replaced before the end of the year, Canarias7 reports.

The iconic sculptures are both awaiting renovation in the Cabildo’s mobile park, but difficulties in obtaining materials for their repair have caused long delays.

The airport sculpture (in memory of Pepín Ramírez, the Cabildo President who pioneered many of Lanzarote’s tourist centres)  was removed seven years ago, and many islanders have forgotten that it was there. Meanwhile, the shimmering Fobos sculpture at Tahiche was taken down in October last year, just two years after it was finally returned to the roundabout after a long period.
