Spain’s weather agency, AEMET, has issued yellow alerts for high winds and rough seas on Lanzarote today.
The wind warning extends from 8 am until 9pm and predicts south-westerly winds that could reach gusts of up to 70 kph. Higher lying areas inland are likely to be worst affected.
The rough seas alert begins at midday and ends at 5 pm, with west coast areas worst affected.
AEMET also predicts a very high probability of rain on the island this afternoon.
The warning has led to the suspension of classes on La Graciosa, while Yaiza has postponed all sporting events in municipal facilities.
