Spain’s Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated wind and coastal warnings on Lanzarote for today and tomorrow – some planned outdoor activities have been suspended today.

From 8am this morning, Spain’s Meteorological Agency (AEMET) will activate an ORANGE wind warning for speeds up to 90 km/h as well as a YELLOW coastal warning for waves that could reach up to 5 metres in height. These warnings will remain active until midnight tonight.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 10th, AEMET will activate YELLOW warnings for both from midnight Tuesday with wind speeds up to 80 km/h and waves up to 5 metres in heigh. These warnings will be deactivated at 9am.

This could change, and warnings have been extended before. We’ll keep you updated with any changes on the warnings or their severity.

As for the weather, you can enjoy today’s relatively cool temperatures with highs of 22 and lows of 16. However, from Wednesday this week the island is forecast to heat up with highs of 32 on Wednesday, 33 on Thursday, 30 on Friday, 31 on Saturday and 33 on Sunday.

The UV is always high at this time of the year on the island, so be sure to slap on the factor 50 sun cream and drink lots of water throughout the day.
