A yellow wind alert has been issued for this afternoon by AEMET, Spain’s meteorological agency.
The alert commences at 2 pm and continues until midnight. Gusts of wind reaching a maximum of 70 kph could occur, with coastal areas and east- and south- facing slopes worst affected.
Yellow alerts are the lowest level of warning and recommend only that citizens should remain informed of the weather conditions. The alert is highly unlikely to put anyone off from attending the carnival parade in Puerto del Carmen at 5pm today.
Apart from this, clear skies, and warm temperatures of up to 23 degrees Celsius are forecast.
