December

As we approach the end of what has been a very unsettling and difficult year, the sun still shines in Lanzarote and it really is the perfect winter sun destination. I do hope we get to see many of you begin to return in December and for many more of you I hope you are planning to come and see us in 2021.

Last December was wonderful weather and in the first week we saw mid to high twenties, the second week turned a little cooler thanks to an arctic front which left Mount Teide on Tenerife capped with 10cm of snow. Christmas Day was a lovely 22 degrees and the sunsets, as always at this time of the year, are full of orange, pink, purple and blue hues.

While you can still burn here in December thanks to the high UV which remains at around 6, having an extra layer is worthwhile especially as many nights are spent outdoors celebrating. Christmas celebrations will soon be underway, although on a smaller scale this year. Santos Inocentes is the Spanish equivalent of April Fools’ Day, celebrated here on 28th December. Of course New Year’s Eve sees many parties and firework displays from the local bars and restaurants too.

It’s also not too late to make a donation to help local vulnerable people and small businesses here, all the details can be found at www.buymeacoffee.com/TerrieWeather.
