A breakdown of equipment at the desalination plant has led to water cuts in several Lanzarote towns yesterday. The supply may not return to normal until later today.

Arrieta, Tabasco, Máguez, Punta Mujeres, Mala, Teguise, Los Valles, Tahíche, Nazaret, Tao, Soo, Muñique, Guatiza, Teseguite, San Bartolomé, Güime, Montaña Blanca, Tías, Mácher, Yaiza, Uga and Tegoyo were warned about cuts by Canal Gestión, following an “unexpected technical fault” at the plant.

Canal Gestión stated that it was devoting “all resources possible” to fixing the problem but warned that normal supply may not be re-established until Thursday.

Meanwhile, Haría, Guinate, Arrieta, Los Valles and El Cuchillo were warned of water cuts that had nothing to do with the breakdown, but which have been commonplace in rural areas recently.
