Elections for the EU parliament are taking place throughout Lanzarote and Spain today, the culmination of weeks of campaigning by local and national parties.
In the Canaries, around 1.8 million citizens of EU member states have the right to vote, and results will be assessed on a national basis, with two MEPS assigned to the islands.
The final results, which will emerge over the coming week, will decide the make-up the next four-year EU parliament.
All eligible voters should have received a voting slip which will indicate the location of their assigned mesa electoral (ballot box). Voters should also bring ID in the form of a passport or DNI/NIE.
