Lanzarote’s 2022 wine vintage were classed as “Very Good” in an event at the Monumento del Campesino yesterday.
The grading is the second-highest available after “Excellent”, which the island last achieved in 2017.
Seven expert wine tasters awarded the grade after tasting 20 different wines from various bodegas on thew island: 13 dry whites, 2 rosés, 4 reds ands a semi-sweet white.
Dario Pérez of the Wine Regulatory Council, said that last year’s vintage was marked by low rainfall and correspondingly small grapes.
Nevertheless, 2.2 million bottles were produced last year, with supplies already running out.
