The Lanzarote secretary of the UGT trade union has said that thew most common complaint they hear from employers is that they are being made to work more hours than they are paid for.

Césare Reyes said that 73% of the cases the union were dealing with involved working excessive hours, and that although this was mainly within the  restaurant and catering sector, there were also cases in construction, commerce and the public sector.

Reyes said the UGT would continue to fight to remedy the situation and said that, although more inspectors were appointed last year, more were still needed.
