The market at Uga will finally re-open this weekend.
The market was initially closed during the lockdown, after which Yaiza Ayuntamiento handed the premises over to the Canarian Health Service to ensure that Yaiza’s Health Centre could operate to it best capacity.
This was followed by a €70,000 renovation project which has now finished.
The market will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm and there’ll be special children’s activities and live performances to celebrate.
Yaiza Mayor Oscar Noda praised the work of Fátima Viñoly, Yaiza’s agriculture councillor, in getting the market back on its feet, and invited everyone to “Come and buy products from the soil and spend a good time with your family.”
The indoor market sells fruit, vegetable, fish, meat, bread and Canarian products such as wine, beers, cheese, preserves and sweets. Stalls outdoors will offer crafts, aloe vera products among other things.
The market is located at the corner of C/Montaña Guardilama and C/Joaquin Rodríguez, next to the church of San Isidro Labrador.
