UD Lanzarote will kick off the new season in the RFEF 3 (fifth tier) at home in Arrecife on the 7th September versus CD Tenerife C.

For the whole of last season the Rojillos (The Reds) had to play at the stadium in Tías whilst our home stadium Ciudad Deportiva in Arrecife had a new artificial surface laid and also a new running track.

Initially, work was expected to take 4-5 months but those kind of forecasts are always optimistic and are rarely met here. There are many reasons why people love to live in Lanzarote, but efficiency is not one of them.

The good news is that the playing surface is outstanding and, whilst Tías was a nice stadium to play in, it did lack shade and also the capacity was limited. It is also so much easier for most people to get to Ciudad Deportiva as the bus routes from Puerto Del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca are regular and the main bus station is only 100 yards from the stadium.

The new manager of the first team is Ángel López. The new Mister has played just short of 500 first team matches for UD Las Palmas, Celta Vigo, Villareal and Real Betis. The 44-year-old has also represented his country Spain on five occasions. In his managerial career he was assistant manager of UD Las Palmas and has experience of managing in this category.

Season tickets and club membership will remain at the same price as the last three seasons with an adult season ticket at €75 and Pensioners at €50. For just €20 and €15 respectively one can also have club membership.

Entrance prices also remain the same with adults at €10 Residents €7), Pensioners €8 (Residents €5) and, as usual, all children 15 years or under are admitted free of charge.
