Firefighters were called to tackle a significant blaze involving two vehicles in separate incidents across Playa Blanca last Friday evening.

The first alarm was raised at approximately 10:08 PM on Calle Islandia, where a vehicle parked close to a residential property and other cars had caught fire.

Neighbours managed to bring the situation under control before the arrival of emergency services, extinguishing the flames themselves. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the fire was out, though the front of the vehicle and the rear bumper had sustained damage.

The crew conducted a thorough inspection and temperature check to ensure there was no remaining risk of reignition before concluding their response. The Yaiza Local Police secured the perimeter during the operation.

Another incident unfolded just over an hour later, at around 11:52 PM, on Calle La Concha. In this incident, an electric vehicle parked at a residence caught fire, with flames rapidly spreading towards the property whilst the occupants were still inside. Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire had taken hold in the garage and was extending to a wooden pergola. Fortunately, the residents had already managed to evacuate the property safely and were unharmed. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze on the vehicle. They subsequently carried out an inspection of the property and confirmed that, despite the dramatic circumstances, the home itself had not sustained fire damage. A tow truck was later called to remove the charred vehicle. Throughout the operation, the Yaiza Local Police assisted by securing the area to allow the firefighting efforts to proceed safely.
