Two poachers caught spearfishing in Chinijo Archipelago

Two poachers were caught spearfishing in the Chinijo Archipelago on May 31^st.

The Guardia Civil vessel “Río Segura” was patrolling the islands north of Lanzarote when it encountered an inflatable boat from which two people were spearfishing between the islands of Roque del Oeste and Montaña Clara.  As protected areas, fishing is strictly prohibited near these islands.

The poachers had already caught several groupers and sea bream weighing a total of 41 kilograms. The fish and the boat have been confiscated.
