A woman and a 6-year-old were taken to the Dr Jose Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife yesterday, after suffering burns at Timanfaya.
At approximately 12:58pm yesterday afternoon, the emergency services were called to Timanfaya after reports of an incident involving a woman and a 6-year-old child.
Upon arrival, the medical team found that the woman had suffered severe burns and the 6-year-old had suffered minor burns. Both were assessed at the ambulance before being taken to the Dr Jose Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife for further treatment.
The circumstances of the accident are unclear at the time of writing, with some reports stating that the burns came from steam during a demonstration, however, Lancelot report that the pair had fallen into the hot pit in which bushes are placed and catch fire due to the heat emanating from the volcano.
