Costa Teguise Guardia Civil have arrested two people between the ages of 37 and 52 years old as the alleged perpetrators of a jewellery shop robbery in the resort.
An investigation was launched on July 3rd after a complaint that unknown perpetrator(s) had gained access to their jewellery shop, stealing a bag with 16 necklaces in it. According to the police, the necklaces are valued at approximately 10,315 euros.
With the initial report, the Costa Teguise Guardia Civil opened the investigation and began looking at images from surveillance cameras. During the investigation they were able to identify the vehicle used by the perpetrators.
After later spotting the alleged perpetrators getting into the same vehicle in Costa Teguise, the Guardia Civil moved into place and arrested the two.
At the time of the arrest, one of the two detainees were found carrying a bag with 13 gold necklaces in it and was trying to sell them. The necklaces were identified as the stolen ones and were rightfully returned to the owner.
Additionally, the police report details that the two detainees were not residents of Lanzarote and had only arrived on the island shortly before the robbery.
The pair now await the following legal proceedings.
